Research Focus
Dr. Wenying Ji is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering at George Mason University. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta. He also holds a master\’s degree from Texas A&M University and a bachelor\’s degree from Southeast University. Dr. Ji is an interdisciplinary scholar focused on the integration of advanced data analytics and complex system modeling to enhance the overall performance of infrastructure systems. His current research includes (1) understanding the serviceability of infrastructure systems through social media mining; (2) coupling infrastructure resilience and stakeholder response during disasters; and (3) investigating scientific methodologies in data-driven simulation and network science for enhanced decision making. Dr. Ji is an editorial board member of the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management and has been awarded as an outstanding reviewer by the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, and the Winter Simulation Conference.
Current Projects
  • Decision support system for enhanced infrastructure system serviceability following natural disasters: a social media mining approach
  • Modeling of stakeholder collaboration network in disaster response
