Two Faculty Positions Available for Fall 2008:
The CS department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of computer game development and bioengineering.
 
Two New Software Engineering Courses for Spring 2008:
The Software Engineering group will offer two new undergraduate courses in the Spring semester. SWE 437, Software Testing and Maintenance, will be taught by Jeff Offutt and SWE 443, Software Architecture, will be taught by João Sousa. These new courses are part of the Minor in Software Engineering and are "CS related" courses for the Bachelor's in Computer Science degree.
 
New Requirement for Graduating with Graduate Certificates:
Students must formally apply and be admitted to degree status for a graduate certificate at least one semester before completing the certificate requirements.
 
Two New Faculty Join the Department:
Angelos Stavrou and Sam Malek have joined the ISE department as assistant professors for the fall 2007. Dr. Stavrou is in the Information Security Assurance group. Dr. Malek is in the Software Engineering group.
 
Foundation Test Out Exams Information for Fall 2007:
Notice to Newly Admitted Students and those enrolled in INFS 501, 515, 590, and SWE 510 for Fall 2007.
 
New for Fall 2007 - Minor in Software Engineering (SWE):
The minor in software engineering is designed to teach students to design and build high quality software. This minor is open to all majors.
 
Professor Carlotta Domeniconi Receives Prestigious NSF CAREER Award:
Professor Carlotta Domeniconi in the Department of Information and Software Engineering has received the presitgous NSF CAREER Award. The Award is titled "Learning Local Feature Relevance for Pattern Classification and Clustering" and is in the amount of $400,000 for the period 2/1/2005 through 1/31/2010.
 
Professor Jeff Offutt named EIC of Wiley's journal of Software Testing, Verification and Reliability:
Professor Jeff Offutt named EIC of Wiley's journal of Software Testing, Verification and Reliability Professor Jeff Offutt of our Information and Software Engineering department was named editor-in-chief of Wiley's journal of Software Testing, Verification and Reliability, the premier international journal in the field of testing software.
 
ISE Department Merging with CS Department:
The ISE Department is merging with the CS Department, effective January 1, 2008.
Note: All ISE programs will remain intact and continue to operate.
 
Changes to Certificate in Information Security and Assurance:
Revision effective Fall 2007. Certificate in Information Security and Assurance, graduate certificate program, is for people who are interested in science and methods for ensuring secrecy, integrity, availability, and legitimate use of information systems. The certificate may be pursued concurrently with any of the graduate programs in IT&E.
 
Changes to MS-ISA:
Revised Curriculum for the Master’s degree in Information Security and Assurance (MS-ISA) Effective Fall 2007. This revision closely aligns the MS-ISA degree with the MS in Computer Science (MSCS) and decouples it from the MS in Information Systems (MSIS) degree. In addition, some courses have been renumbered.
 
MSIS and SWE Certificate at Loudoun:
The ISE Department is offering graduate classes in MSIS and SWE Certificate at the new George Mason campus in Loudoun county.
